Security expert Osajie Dickson has alleged that a bandit leader attended a wedding ceremony in Zamfara State while openly carrying a Kalashnikov rifle with 12 magazines.
Speaking in an interview with Channels TV, Dickson described the brazen display of weapons by armed criminals operating freely in the state “Last two weeks, I saw some terrorists in Zamfara State. They came into the town with their arms and ammunition. One of them was with almost about 12 magazines of a Kalashnikov, and they came in, had their wedding, and they went back. Some of them come, have negotiations, and they go back. Are you telling me that country is not a country of particular concern? It is a country of particular concern. If not, you have no space, no room to accommodate terrorists,” he said.
Dickson called for a decisive military response against insurgents threatening Nigerian security. “Anyone that raises an insurrection against the Nigerian state must be eliminated, because the rule of engagement when it comes to life—because presently we are experiencing societal threats—the rule of engagement says anything that poses a threat to human lives, whether you’re a Christian or a Muslim, that threat must be eliminated,” he stated.
The security expert rejected all forms of accommodation or negotiation with criminal groups, emphasizing that threats to national security require immediate and complete elimination.
He argued that the government should not negotiate with terrorists and bandits. According to Dickson, Nigeria must adopt a zero-tolerance approach rather than pursuing strategies that allow armed criminals to operate with impunity and move freely across communities.
