According to a report by the Punch News on Tuesday, 28th of October, 2025, Mrs Adaeze, one of the shop owners on Cole Street in the Oyingbo area, where a two-storey building collapsed, revealed that she was called in the middle of the night and told that the said building had collapsed, and she had to rush down to the scene.

Mrs Adaeze recounted the incident, stating that upon arriving at the scene of the collapsed building, she saw her goods, valued at millions of naira, trapped beneath the rubble, with some of them already destroyed.

She added that the government had repeatedly warned them to vacate the premises due to the building’s distressed state, but the owner hadn’t cooperated. She made a plea for government assistance to help mitigate the impact of her significant loss.

She said, “I was called in the middle of the night and told that the building had collapsed, and I had to rush down here.”
