Political Analyst, Chris Maduka has expressed concern over the growing influence of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying his confidence and defiance suggest that powerful forces may be backing him.
Speaking during an interview on Signature TV, Maduka questioned how one man could so boldly challenge a major political party without facing strong resistance from its leadership. He noted that Wike’s confidence and continuous public confrontation with the PDP hierarchy point to deeper political dynamics beyond what is visible to the public.
“For one man to have such courage to deal with the party and keep hitting his chest, something gave him the confidence,” Maduka said.
He observed that Wike’s open criticisms and assertive posture have not only unsettled the PDP but also exposed its internal weaknesses. According to Maduka, the party’s inability to respond decisively to Wike’s actions suggests that there are compromises within the leadership ranks, leaving the party vulnerable to manipulation.
Maduka added that the situation reflects a broader crisis of accountability and courage within the PDP. He stressed that the party’s silence in the face of Wike’s bold political moves has emboldened him further, while weakening the morale of loyal members still committed to rebuilding the opposition platform.
The analyst further warned that unless the PDP urgently addresses the internal contradictions that allow individuals to override collective party decisions, it risks continued decline ahead of future elections.
“The confidence we see in Wike didn’t come from nowhere,” Maduka emphasized. “It’s a product of internal decay and political compromises that have eaten deep into the PDP structure.
