According to a report by Vanguard on Thursday, October 23, 2025, former Kano State Governor and leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has cautioned politicians who have distanced themselves from the NNPP and the Kwankwasiyya movement, saying they will bear the political consequences of their actions in the 2027 general elections.
He made this known during an event in Kano organized as part of his 69th birthday celebration.
During the gathering, Kwankwaso reflected on the state of the NNPP and the loyalty of its members.
He expressed concern over the attitude of some politicians who, according to him, abandoned the movement for personal gain.
The former governor emphasized that such actions weaken the unity and focus of the group, especially at a time when it is preparing to strengthen its political base ahead of future elections.
Kwankwaso stated that the movement was built on commitment, trust, and service to the people, and that anyone who turned away from those values would not find political success within the structure.
He described loyalty as the backbone of the NNPP’s growth and insisted that betrayal of the collective vision would not go unnoticed.
The former governor explained that the party had faced numerous challenges but remained determined to uphold its ideals.
He added that the NNPP’s achievements in Kano and other parts of the country were the result of teamwork and dedication, not the effort of individuals seeking personal recognition.
According to him, the Kwankwasiyya movement would continue to grow stronger despite the exit of some members.
Kwankwaso reminded his supporters that politics requires consistency and faith in the group’s vision.
He maintained that switching allegiance for short-term benefits often ends in regret.
He noted that those who think they can leave the movement and still return to Kano to contest elections successfully are only deceiving themselves.
The former minister also expressed optimism about the NNPP’s future and the determination of its loyal supporters to remain focused.
He urged party members to stay united and continue working toward strengthening the movement’s influence ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Kwankwaso concluded by reiterating his belief that loyalty and integrity remain the foundation of meaningful political progress.
He assured his followers that the NNPP would remain committed to its principles and continue to protect the interest of those who stand firm with the movement through all political challenges.
He said: “At this point in time, if anyone thinks he can cross over and still come to Kano to win an election, such a person is only deceiving himself. “Our movement will continue to take action against those who betray it.”
