In defiance of international pressure and a fragile ceasefire, Hamas has intensified its grip on Gaza through acts of brutality, including executions and torture, even as the United States issued strong warnings against such actions.
According to Jerusalem Post, the recent US statement condemned Hamas for planning attacks on Palestinian civilians, describing it as a “grave violation” of the October 8 Egypt-brokered ceasefire agreement.
Since emerging from tunnels on October 13 to begin releasing hostages, Hamas has reportedly delayed handing over the bodies of deceased captives, claiming difficulty in locating them.
Meanwhile, reports from Gaza indicate increasing violence against dissidents, with interrogations, public executions, and the re-establishment of authoritarian control in areas still under Hamas influence—estimated to be about half of the Gaza Strip.
The Palestinian Authority (PA), led by Fatah, has openly condemned Hamas’s actions, but holds limited power in Gaza.
Israel also remains skeptical of both Hamas and the PA, resisting efforts to allow the PA to govern Gaza or reopen the Rafah crossing until all hostages are returned.
While some local militias reportedly oppose Hamas, many have been suppressed or eliminated.
Despite clear US warnings—backed by the ceasefire’s guarantor nations—Hamas shows no signs of complying. It is suspected of rearming, further destabilizing the region.
The US has sent personnel to monitor developments, and Vice President JD Vance is expected to visit Israel to reinforce the ceasefire terms.
With every passing day, Hamas strengthens its position, aiming to present the international community with a fait accompli: de facto control of Gaza.
The group continues to ignore warnings from both the US and Fatah, demonstrating its intent to reassert dominance regardless of diplomatic consequences. See, More, Here>>>>
