Obi Is Enjoying Media Attention, But 2027? He’s Not Interested; He Already Rejected Our Offer- Ahmed

In a recent interview shared by Trust TV, the National Secretary of the Labour Party, Abdullahi Ahmed, has stated that the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, is unlikely to contest in the 2027 elections.

Ahmed explained that contrary to speculations about Obi’s continued political ambition, the former Anambra State governor appears to have moved on from the party’s internal crisis and is more focused on other political alignments.

According to him, the Labour Party had extended goodwill and even made certain offers to Obi in preparation for the next general election, but the former candidate declined. “Obi is enjoying media attention, but 2027? He’s not interested; he already rejected our offer,” Ahmed said.

The Labour Party scribe added that the party’s leadership under Barrister Julius Abure remains focused on rebuilding its structure nationwide, ahead of upcoming governorship and legislative elections. He maintained that the current leadership crisis within the party is being resolved, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has already recognized Abure’s National Working Committee as the legitimate leadership.

Ahmed urged party members and supporters to remain united and committed to the Labour Party’s ideals, emphasizing that internal distractions should not derail the party’s long-term vision for Nigeria’s democratic development. See, More, Here>>>>
