Reverend Ezekiel Dachomo has reacted after United States President Donald Trump shared a viral video in which the cleric made an emotional appeal for international intervention regarding the alleged targeted killings of Christians in parts of Nigeria.
According to a report by the Nigerian Tribune on Sunday, May 17, 2026, the video resurfaced online after being reposted by Trump on his Truth Social platform. The clip shows Reverend Dachomo speaking passionately during a mass burial ceremony for victims he described as Christians killed in violent attacks.
Responding to Trump’s post on Saturday, the cleric expressed his appreciation in a brief message shared online: “@realDonaldTrump Thank you,” Dachomo wrote.
Trump shared the video just hours after announcing a major security milestone. The U.S. President disclosed that American forces, working in coordination with the Nigerian Armed Forces, had carried out a successful joint operation to eliminate a top extremist leader.
“Tonight, at my direction, brave American forces and the Armed Forces of Nigeria flawlessly executed a meticulously planned and very complex mission to eliminate the most active terrorist in the world from the battlefield,” Trump announced on Truth Social. “Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, second in command of ISIS globally, thought he could hide in Africa, but little did he know we had sources who kept us informed on what he was doing.”
Trump added that Al-Minuki, who was allegedly responsible for coordinating attacks and supporting extremist operations targeting both African communities and Western interests, would no longer pose a threat.
“He will no longer terrorize the people of Africa, or help plan operations to target Americans. With his removal, ISIS’s global operation is greatly diminished. Thank you to the Government of Nigeria for your partnership on this operation,” Trump stated.
In the now-viral video reposted by the U.S. President, Reverend Dachomo made an impassioned plea directly to global leaders during the burial gathering, accusing attackers of carrying out a targeted campaign against Christian communities.
“Look at it today. Is there any Muslim here? United Nations, I know you are watching me. American Senate, you are watching what I’m saying here. Special Adviser to Trump, please tell Trump to save our lives in Nigeria. They are killing Christians in Nigeria massacring Christians,” the cleric said in the footage.
Dachomo also pushed back against narratives suggesting that the violence affects all religious groups equally.
“If they say Muslims are being killed, by who? By Muslims,” he questioned.
