Rotimi Amaechi Has No Business Running For The Presidency;This Is Just A Waste Of 90m Naira-Alapinni

According to a video posted on the official YouTube channel of Arise News on Saturday, May 16, 2026, international human rights lawyer Kola Alapinni said former Rivers State governor Rotimi Amaechi should not be considered a strong contender in the 2027 presidential race.

Alapinni made the remark while speaking on political developments and possible alignments ahead of the next general election. During the interview, he questioned Amaechi’s political strength across different parts of the country and argued that the former minister may struggle to secure widespread national support if he decides to contest.

“Rotimi Amaechi has no business running for the presidency. This is just a waste of 90 million naira,” Alapinni said during the live television discussion.

He further argued that several politicians expressing interest in the presidency may only be seeking political relevance or negotiating positions ahead of future alliances. According to him, some aspirants lack the nationwide structure and acceptance required to mount a serious challenge in a presidential election.

Alapinni also maintained that the political permutations ahead of 2027 remain uncertain, especially within opposition parties trying to build coalitions capable of challenging the ruling party.
