Kenneth Okonkwo, a political critic and member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition, has revealed that he had earlier warned Nigerians about the hardship they would face following President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s implementation of his first two policies.
In an interview with Channels Television on Tuesday, he recalled previously stating that Nigerians would experience hunger throughout President Tinubu’s administration as a result of those policies.
“When President Tinubu came in and started those two policies, I told Nigerians that you are going to be hungry throughout Tinubu’s regime. When Dangote refinery was coming in, I said the products of Dangote’s refinery wasn’t going to be cheap.”
Furthermore, Kenneth Okonkwo questioned the credibility of the report claiming that the Tinubu-led administration distributed ₦300 billion to eight million households across Nigeria. He argued that the figures were fabricated, noting that he had not seen or heard of any Nigerian confirming receipt of such funds from the Federal Government.
“The President told you that he shared 330 billion naira to 8 million homes, who are they? Did the people from your village get it because I don’t know about mine. That money has been blown.”
Assuming the report were genuine, Okonkwo criticized the manner in which the government chose to spend such an amount. He argued that the ₦330 billion purportedly shared among eight million households should instead have been invested in improving the country’s power supply, a more sustainable and beneficial course of action.
“If that 330 billion naira was invested in power because the President has said that if he doesn’t give us power, nobody should vote for him. In saner clime, he shouldn’t even contest because he hasn’t even given us power after three years of his speech.Continue, Full, Reading>>>>
