2027: Tinubu Only Fears the North; He Scared That They Are Planning to Surprise Him- Deji Adeyanju

Human rights activist Deji Adeyanju has claimed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is more politically wary of northern Nigeria than any opposition bloc from the southern region as the 2027 general election approaches.

In a post shared on his official Facebook page on Wednesday April 29, 2026, Adeyanju argued that the president’s perceived anxiety is rooted in what he described as emerging political calculations among northern leaders, whom he suggested may be planning a strategic shift that could challenge Tinubu’s re-election bid.

According to him, the growing attention around opposition movements, particularly the African Democratic Congress (ADC), reflects deeper concerns within the ruling camp about potential alliances forming in the North. He claimed that these developments are fueling apprehension about a possible political surprise from the region.

Adeyanju further asserted that, in his view, Tinubu does not see southern political actors as a significant threat, but is instead focused on the North’s electoral influence and its capacity to shape national outcomes.

He also drew a parallel to the 2015 political shift that led to the defeat of former president Goodluck Jonathan, suggesting that there are fears of a similar scenario unfolding in 2027.
