Jonathan Is Being Pushed By Some Northerners Who Want Tinubu Out Of The Way In 2027-Chief Ogbonnaya

‎‎Chief Charles Obioha Ogbonnaya, a veteran politician from Abia State, has claimed that some Northern politicians are behind moves to bring back former President Goodluck Jonathan into the 2027 presidential race, during an interview with The Sun on Saturday, October 4, 2025.

‎Ogbonnaya said Jonathan has every constitutional right to contest.

‎But he added that the push for his return is not entirely from Jonathan himself.

‎He said the interest is being driven by certain groups in the North who want President Bola Tinubu removed after one term in office.

‎Ogbonnaya explained that politics in Nigeria is always about interests.

‎He argued that Northern politicians see Jonathan as someone who could serve only one term if elected again, which may quickly return power to their region.

‎According to him, this calculation is one of the main reasons behind the pressure.

‎The Abia-born politician warned that such a move could destabilize the political balance of the country.

‎He said it was important for the South East to carefully consider its position ahead of the 2027 polls.

‎He urged the Igbo to support Tinubu if they want to remain relevant in national politics.

‎Ogbonnaya further noted that Nigerian politics often shifts based on alliances.

‎He described Jonathan as a respected leader but said his comeback might open old wounds.

‎He said the push from the North is not about the former president’s personal ambition but about larger regional strategy.

‎”Jonathan is being pushed by some Northerners who want Tinubu out of the way in 2027,” he said. See, More, Here>>>>
