In a recent interview shared by Arise News, ADC National Youth Leader under the David Mark-led NWC, Balarabe Rufai, addressed the ongoing leadership crisis within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), shedding light on the party’s internal history and recent developments.
Rufai explained that the current structure of the party did not emerge overnight but was the result of years of dialogue, reconciliation, and political alignment among key stakeholders. According to him, “We had almost 18 years of negotiations, and Nafiu Bala was part of them; they decided to resign.” He noted that the decision by some former leaders to step aside was voluntary and aimed at strengthening the party ahead of national political engagements.
He further stated that the leadership led by Senator David Mark was constituted through due process, with the involvement of party members and in the presence of relevant electoral authorities. Rufai emphasized that the recognition of this leadership was not arbitrary but followed internal agreements and formal procedures.
The youth leader, however, expressed concern over recent attempts by some individuals to challenge the existing leadership structure. He described such moves as disruptive and capable of creating unnecessary confusion within the party.
Rufai reaffirmed the commitment of the youth wing to defending democratic principles and maintaining stability within the ADC.
