The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has sparked controversy following remarks he made about a television programme while addressing journalists during a recent media parley.

Wike was reacting to a broadcast of Politics Today on Channels Television, a programme anchored by Seun Okinbaloye. His comments come amid heightened political debates and tensions surrounding party alignments, opposition coalitions, and discussions about the future of Nigeria’s multi-party system ahead of the 2027 elections.

During the briefing, the former Rivers State governor criticised what he perceived as bias in the programme, particularly comments suggesting concerns about Nigeria drifting toward a one-party system. He questioned the role of journalists in shaping political narratives, expressing frustration over what he described as unfair framing of issues during the interview.
