Chidi Odinkalu, a renowned human rights activist and former chairman of the national human rights commission recently reacted after Justice Rilwan Aikawa ruled that the bail application filed by the former governor of Kaduna State and ADC Chieftain, Nasiru El-Rufai will take two weeks to decide. According to the statements which were shared on his official X handle, he pointed out that the judgement was condemnable.
Many were left stunned after Justice Rilwan Aikawa of the federal high court, Kaduna gave a stunning judgement on the bail application filed by ADC Chieftain and former Kaduna State governor, Nasiru El-Rufai.
Justice Rilwan Aikawa, in his judgment which triggered massive public attention, while acknowledging the request to grant bail to the former governor, adjourned the hearing, with the ADC Chieftain ordered to be remanded in ICPC custody.
Reacting, Chidi Odinkalu, a respected human rights activist and legal practitioner in a recent statement which was shared on his official X handle, pointed out that by turning down an application for liberty, the Judge was guilty of promoting injustice.
Chidi Odinkalu, a known critic of the former Kaduna governor, while admitting that his reservations towards him (Nasiru El-Rufai) stood firmly, he cannot accept the treatment being meted out to him, as he cared more about justice.
Chidi Odinkalu equally disclosed that there was absolutely no excuse for Justice Rilwan Aikawa to take two weeks to deliver a ruling on the bail application filed by Nasiru El-Rufai. For this, according to Chidi Odinkalu, the judge was guilty of judicial malpractice….See More
