Paying Ransom To Terrorists Is Culpability, As Far As Security Is Concern Tinubu Failed Woefully—Ibe

‎In a recent statement via his official X account, Paul Ibe, spokesman to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has criticized the security situation in Nigeria under President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress, saying the current administration has failed in its primary duty to protect lives and property.

‎”The terrorist is your brother and (sister, too), the terrorist is a prodigal son, is more than nice, it does not promote justice. Paying ransom to terrorists/bandits is culpability. As far as security is concerned, the Tinubu-led APC administration has failed woefully. It cannot protect the lives and property of citizens, a primary responsibility of government. No amount of propaganda or drycleaning can erase the lived reality that Nigerians are facing the worst era of insecurity in our country,” he wrote.

‎In his post, Ibe explained that treating terrorists and bandits with sympathy or leniency does not bring justice, he argued that describing criminals in soft or emotional terms only weakens the seriousness of their crimes and insisted that people who carry out violent attacks should not be seen as misguided family members but as threats that must be dealt with firmly.

‎He criticized the idea of paying ransom to secure the release of victims, he believes such actions encourage more kidnappings and strengthen criminal groups, according to him, giving in to these demands shows a level of responsibility in worsening insecurity rather than solving it.

‎Ibe stated that Nigerians are living through a very difficult period marked by fear and uncertainty, he pointed out that many citizens no longer feel safe in their homes, on the roads, or even in public spaces, he stressed that this reality cannot be hidden by government messaging or public relations efforts.
