In advance of the 2027 elections, Senator Nenadi Usman, the National Chairman of the Labour Party, disclosed the party’s strategic course, emphasizing that its choices are motivated by the imperative to maintain national unity in Nigeria. She argued that zoning the presidential ticket is a deliberate attempt to maintain peace and stability, which are necessary preconditions for good government and national development, rather than just a political agreement.
Senator Usman highlighted that the Labor Party seeks to prevent increasing divides between the north and south. She argued that the party promotes fairness and inclusion rather than portraying national politics as a conflict between regions. In her view, the chance should be honored without needless opposition when it is the South’s turn to elect a president, since this strategy promotes balance and lowers political conflict throughout the nation.
She also emphasized the significance of integrity and consistency inside the Labour Party, saying that the party should put its ideas into practice rather than just speaking about them. By aligning its internal processes with its publicly stated principles, the party hopes to “walk the talk,” which will increase trust among Nigerians and enhance its credibility as a political alternative, according to Senator Usman.
