Atiku reveals why he didn’t pick Tinubu as VP: ‘Nigeria needs a Muslim-Christian ticket'” – Okonkwo

Kenneth Okonkwo, Nollywood actor and politician, has alleged that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has not been able to become president partly because of his insistence on respecting Nigeria’s religious diversity.

Speaking in an interview with Symfoni, Okonkwo recalled that when Atiku contested for president in 2007, he refused to run with a fellow Muslim, even though there was pressure for him to do so.

According to Okonkwo, Atiku specifically rejected Bola Tinubu as his potential running mate because he believed Nigeria must operate on a Muslim-Christian ticket for balance.

He argued that this principle of religious inclusiveness has shaped Atiku’s political choices, even though it may have cost him the presidency.

In Kenneth Okonkwo’s words: “Part of the reason that Atiku has not been president before now is his insistence on respecting our diversity.
