United States President Donald Trump on Monday announced a temporary halt to planned military action against Iran, following what he described as “very good and productive” discussions between both sides.
According to a report by Vanguard on Monday, March 23, 2026, in a statement shared on his Truth Social platform, Trump disclosed that the US had engaged Iran in high-level talks over the past two days, with both parties exploring options for a broader resolution to ongoing hostilities in the Middle East.
According to him, the outcome of the discussions prompted a shift in Washington’s approach, leading to the suspension of threatened strikes on Iranian energy infrastructure. He said the pause would last for five days, pending the progress of continued negotiations.
“Based on the tone of the talks, which will continue throughout the week, I have directed that all military strikes against Iranian power plants be postponed for five days,” Trump stated.
The development comes amid rising tensions between the two nations, fueled by threats of attacks on key infrastructure and fears of disruption to global oil supply routes, particularly the Strait of Hormuz.
While details of the negotiations remain unclear, the announcement has raised cautious optimism among international observers who have been concerned about the possibility of a wider regional conflict. Analysts say the temporary ceasefire could provide a critical window for diplomacy.
However, uncertainty still surrounds the outcome of the talks, as both sides have maintained firm positions in recent weeks.
With negotiations expected to continue in the coming days, global attention remains fixed on whether the pause will lead to a lasting de-escalation or merely delay further confrontation…..See More
