Tinubu Won Using Muslim-Muslim But Muslims Are Suffering What He’s Only After Is Lagos—Sokoto Cleric

According to a report by Daily Trust indicates that on Saturday, March 21, 2026, a respected Islamic scholar based in Sokoto, Professor Mansur Ibrahim Sokoto, criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, alleging that Muslims have been sidelined after playing a significant role in his 2023 electoral victory.

Speaking during his Eid sermon, the cleric argued that Tinubu’s decision to contest the election with a Muslim-Muslim ticket was driven primarily by political considerations. He maintained that neither Muslims nor the northern region have experienced meaningful benefits under the current administration.

According to Professor Ibrahim, many Muslims are facing hardship under Tinubu’s leadership. He expressed the view that the president’s policies do not reflect a commitment to Islamic concerns or the general well-being of Muslim communities.

He further claimed that the northern region, which has a predominantly Muslim population, is not receiving adequate attention from the federal government. Instead, he suggested that the president’s focus remains largely on Lagos, noting that even within that sphere, many of Tinubu’s close associates are Christians.

Professor Ibrahim also urged Islamic leaders to reconsider how they approach political endorsements in the future. He advised against supporting candidates solely on the basis of shared religious identity, emphasizing the importance of competence, track record, and performance over religious affiliation.

In addition, he encouraged Nigerians to assess the administration based on tangible outcomes. Key sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture, economic management, business development, and electricity supply, he said, should serve as the primary benchmarks for evaluating government effectiveness.
