Dr Daniel Olukoya Explains The Meaning Of ‘Die By Fire’ Prayers In MFM

The General Overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, Daniel Olukoya, has explained the spiritual meaning behind the popular “die by fire” prayers often used in the ministry, stating that the phrase is frequently misunderstood by critics.

Speaking in a recent video shared on YouTube, Olukoya clarified that the term “death” in spiritual context does not always refer to physical death, but rather the termination of negative influence or function. “Death means to stop living, to lose force, to stop working, to expire, to pass away, to collapse,” he explained.

He illustrated his point using everyday examples, noting that when people say a car engine is dead, it means the engine can no longer function. According to him, the same principle applies spiritually when believers pray against evil forces.

Olukoya added that expressions such as “cultism has been eradicated” or “poverty has died” do not imply physical death, but the complete removal or cessation of those conditions. “Death can mean termination of functions. Death can mean to come to an end,” he said.

The cleric emphasized that spiritual warfare prayers are directed at negative forces rather than human beings. He stated that believers are not praying against individuals, but against “strongholds, evil powers, altars, gates, and spirits of wickedness.”

He further explained that in the context of prayer, “death” refers to rendering such forces powerless and unable to carry out harmful activities. “Once that spirit is locked up, that is death to it,” he noted, stressing that such entities may still exist but are no longer effective in influencing a person’s life.

Olukoya referenced biblical interpretations, noting that spiritual death differs from physical death, citing examples where individuals are alive physically but spiritually inactive. He maintained that the concept is rooted in scriptural understanding of spiritual authority and deliverance.

He concluded by urging believers to focus their prayers on dismantling negative forces rather than individuals, reaffirming that the essence of such declarations is to stop evil operations rather than cause physical harm…..See More
