Former Senator Shehu Sani has declared that aircraft carriers, once considered among the most powerful symbols of military dominance, are now useless in the age of modern technological warfare. Sani made the statement on his official X handle while reacting to the ongoing military escalation between the United States and Iran, which has seen warships destroyed within moments by precision strikes.
Sani, a renowned human rights activist and former lawmaker who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District, argued that the recent conflict has exposed a reality many military analysts have debated for years. According to him, an aircraft carrier sitting in the middle of an ocean is no longer the feared asset it once was. Advances in missile technology, drone warfare, and precision targeting have fundamentally changed the rules of engagement, rendering massive naval vessels vulnerable in ways that would have been unthinkable decades ago.
