How Did The Terrorists Know We Were Coming — Former Soldier Questions Intelligence Failure Behind Deadly Damboa Road Ambush

A former Nigerian soldier, Temple Ahunanya, has given a chilling account of how he and fellow troops were ambushed by Boko Haram terrorists on Damboa Road in Borno State while heading for deployment, revealing that the soldiers transported in tipper trucks survived while many of those in Hilux vehicles were killed.

Ahunanya made the revelation during an interview with Lucky Udu Experience, where he recounted the terrifying incident in detail. He explained that the number of troops heading for deployment that day was so large that there were not enough military vehicles to carry everyone, so some soldiers including himself were loaded into tipper trucks instead of the standard Hilux vehicles.

According to Ahunanya, the decision to use tipper trucks turned out to be what saved their lives. When the ambush happened, those inside the tippers survived because the thick metal body of the trucks was able to resist bullets, while soldiers travelling in the lighter Hilux vehicles suffered heavy casualties.

“It was an ambush, how did terrorists know we were coming. They laid siege with their weapons, unknown to us. That was even when I knew that tipper is bulletproof. Some of us were in a tipper, I was also in a tipper,” Ahunanya said.

He said the troops made efforts to fight back during the attack but despite their resistance, they still lost several men. His account also raised a troubling question about how the terrorists knew the soldiers were coming that day and were able to set up an ambush in advance, suggesting a possible intelligence leak or compromise….See More
