BREAKING: Iran Says It Will Stop Attacking Neighbouring Countries — Unless They Strike First

Iran’s interim leadership council has approved a new military policy stating that neighbouring countries will no longer be targeted by Iranian forces unless attacks against Iran originate from those countries, President Masoud Pezeshkian announced on Saturday.

Speaking in a televised address broadcast by Iranian state media, Pezeshkian said the decision was taken by Iran’s interim leadership council in an effort to reduce tensions with countries across the Middle East. According to the president, the new directive means that Iran will refrain from launching missile or drone strikes against neighbouring states unless those countries become a direct source of attacks against Iranian territory.

“The interim leadership council agreed that no more attacks will be made on neighbouring countries and no missiles will be fired unless an attack on Iran originates from those countries,” Pezeshkian said in his remarks.

The Iranian leader also issued an apology to regional countries that had previously been affected by Iranian strikes during the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. He emphasized that Tehran does not view neighbouring nations as enemies and that the policy shift reflects Iran’s desire to avoid further escalation with countries in the region.

The announcement comes amid an intensifying regional conflict involving Iran, the United States and Israel. The crisis escalated following coordinated airstrikes by the US and Israel on Iranian targets in late February, an operation that reportedly killed Iran’s Supreme Leader and triggered retaliatory missile and drone attacks by Iran on Israeli and US-linked positions in several parts of the Middle East.

Since then, Iranian forces have launched retaliatory strikes targeting Israeli interests and US facilities in countries across the Gulf region. These developments have raised fears of a wider regional war and disrupted air travel, trade routes and security conditions across several Middle Eastern states.

Despite the new policy toward neighbouring countries, President Pezeshkian maintained that Iran would continue defending itself against foreign aggression and would not surrender to pressure from the United States or Israel. He insisted that Iran’s military actions going forward would remain defensive and retaliatory in nature.

Analysts say the decision may be aimed at easing tensions with Gulf states and preventing the conflict from spreading further across the region while Iran continues its confrontation with its main adversaries….See More
