In a recent video shared on Facebook on Thursday, March 5, 2026, Niger Delta activist and Kalabari chieftain Asari Dokubo addressed allegations concerning his past relationship with former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, and questions surrounding investigations by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
According to Dokubo, “I was connected to Malami, I took money, and the EFCC has never invited me.” He responded to claims suggesting that his association with Malami implied involvement in financial misconduct. He stated that being linked to a public official does not automatically mean wrongdoing.
Dokubo explained that public narratives sometimes attempt to make assumptions without presenting evidence. He maintained that if there were genuine concerns about his conduct, the relevant authorities would have formally invited him for questioning. According to him, no such invitation has occurred.
He emphasized that transparency and due process are essential in matters involving allegations of corruption. Dokubo argued that accusations should be supported by verifiable facts rather than speculation or political bias.
The activist further stated that his public activities and engagements are open and transparent and that he has nothing to conceal. According to Dokubo, maintaining credibility requires responding to rumors directly and clarifying misunderstandings when they arise.
