I Got Pregnant at 19, My Boyfriend Denied It and My Family Sent Me Out, Now I am a TV Host – Chika O

During a recent episode of YourView on TVC, co-host Chika Okeke opened up about a challenging period in her early life.

She shared that at 19, while still in university, she became pregnant. According to her, the situation was overwhelming. The man involved denied responsibility and urged her to terminate the pregnancy, but she chose to keep the baby despite the uncertainty and pressure she faced.

Chika revealed that after her family discovered she was pregnant, she was asked to leave home. With limited support, she relied on a close friend from school who provided temporary accommodation. She described that time as isolating and difficult, especially as a teenager suddenly confronted with adult responsibilities.

Determined to move forward, she began working as a teacher to support herself. She saved enough money to rent a modest apartment, where she prepared for the birth of her child.

She later gave birth safely and chose a traditional Igbo name for her daughter that means “God has the final say.” She explained that the name symbolized hope and faith during a period marked by rejection and hardship.

Looking back, Chika says the experience strengthened her character and taught her resilience, responsibility, and trust in God. Today, she is a co-host on one of Nigeria’s well-known morning television programs.

Her story serves as a reminder that difficult seasons do not determine a person’s destiny. With determination and support, challenging beginnings can lead to new opportunities…. Discover More
