I Fear For The North If Asiwaju Wins 2027 Election, They May Have Lost The Plot Forever’ -Showunmi

PDP chieftain Segun Showunmi has warned that the north risks permanently losing its grip on Nigeria’s political landscape if President Bola Tinubu secures a second term in 2027 without their backing.

Speaking in an interview with Symfoni TV, Showunmi identified a shifting political dynamics that the north could not afford to ignore. “I fear for the north — if they are not very careful, if Asiwaju wins the 2027 election in spite of all these things they are doing, they may have lost the plot forever. Because you can look at what is going on in the South East now — there are tougher men in charge of government there. You cannot push them over. You cannot push Soludo over. You cannot push Otti over. And certainly, you cannot push my friend, Governor Mbah over,” he said.

Showunmi argued that the political momentum was clearly building in Tinubu’s favour across multiple regions, making the north’s resistance increasingly costly. He noted that the South East, even if it did not deliver an outright win for the president, would likely produce significantly more votes for him than in the previous election.

He also pointed to the North Central as a region that had fully aligned with the administration.
