FCT Polls: I Saw A Lady Crying And Asked Her Why; She Said He Saw Her Late Sister’s Picture -Dengiyefa Angalapu

During an interview on Trust TV, Dengiyefa Angalapu, a research analyst at the Centre for Democracy and Development, shared a poignant moment from his time observing the Federal Capital Territory Area Council elections, highlighting what he described as a troubling issue with the voter register.

Angalapu recounted an emotional scene at Lea Primary School in Jigo Buhari, where he witnessed a woman break down in tears as she approached the official voter register pasted at a polling unit. Curious and concerned, he revealed that he asked her why she was crying—expecting perhaps the frustration or disappointment that often accompanies elections.

According to him, “I was at Lea Primary School, Jigo Buhari. I think that was my most emotional moment observing elections. I saw a lady walk to the voter register that was pasted, and immediately she started crying. I know elections evoke a lot of emotions; you know, when people lose, people cry, and some people also rejoice. I was wondering why someone would look at a voter register and start crying. So I inquired, why is this woman crying? She said she saw the name and picture of her late sister. Right? Do you know what that means? It means the voter register itself that we actually rely on to calculate the voter turnout has people that have died a long time ago. It hasn’t been cleaned.”…..See More
