In a post shared on his official X handle on Sunday, February 15, 2026, Sani took a swipe at critics of foreign military support, urging them to propose alternative international partners if they disapprove of the United States’ involvement.
“Those who are not happy with the presence of the American troops helping our troops to fight terrorists should tell the country they love or trust to send their troops or weapons to help us fight the evil forces in our country,” he wrote.
He further argued that countries that merely issue statements of sympathy after incidents of killings or kidnappings, without offering tangible assistance, are of little help to Nigeria at a critical time in its security challenges.
This post comes amid heightened security operations across several regions of the country, where the military continues to confront insurgents, bandits and kidnapping networks. The debate over foreign military cooperation has historically divided opinion, with past administrations balancing between safeguarding sovereignty and seeking global partnerships to address evolving security threats.
As public discourse intensifies, Sani’s comments have once again brought to the fore the broader question of how Nigeria should structure its international security alliances in confronting terrorism and violent extremism.
Sani’s remarks have since ignited debate across social media. Below are some of the comments.
