Nyesom Wike’s SSA Reacts As MURIC Demands Explanation On US Military’s Presence In Nigeria

Lere Olayinka, the senior special adviser on media to the FCT minister and former Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike recently reacted after MURIC demanded explanation on United States military presence in Nigeria. According to the statements which were shared on his official X handle, he pointed out that the group was concerned about the country’s sovereignty and transparency.

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), a group tasked with protecting the interest of Muslims in Nigeria recently created a national discourse after they demanded for the explanation of the presence of military troops from the United States.

It can be recalled that a military operation by the United States military in Sokoto State had generated controversies, with many believing the action was informed by the narratives of Christian genocide.

However, the recent presence of the same forces stirred mixed reactions, with MURIC demanding explanations from the federal government as they maintained that transparency was non negotiable.

Reacting, Lere Olayinka, the senior special adviser on media to the FCT minister and former governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike made the disclosure on his official X handle, accompanied by a striking response.

According to his statements, he pointed out that the group’s demand for explanations, citing national sovereignty and transparency as the basis meant there were serious issues that needed to be urgently addressed.

These were the words of Lere Olayinka which he shared on his official X handle;

“MURIC demands clarity from the Gov’t on the reported US military presence in Nigeria, raising concerns over national sovereignty and transparency..” he wrote.
