According to a report by Daily Post on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has reaffirmed his commitment to reclaiming political control for the people of Rivers State in the upcoming 2027 elections.

Speaking during a “Thank You” visit to the Eleme Local Government Area, the minister emphasised that the resolve to reshape the state’s political landscape is final. He revealed that this strategic plan includes ensuring President Bola Tinubu returns for a second term while simultaneously addressing what he described as a leadership error currently affecting the state.

Wike asserted that no financial influence could divert them from their chosen path, reminding the audience of their past successes and promising a repeat performance in the future.

He said, “We are prepared; we have made a decision, and we are not going back. I want you to be strong. Nobody will intimidate us.”

The minister further noted that those currently holding power in Rivers State have been corrupted by their positions and wealth, suggesting that a combination of greed and ingratitude would inevitably lead to their collapse.

Expressing his appreciation to the residents of Eleme for their unwavering loyalty to President Tinubu, Wike noted that he does not take their dedication lightly. He highlighted the President’s inclusive governance, pointing out that Tinubu broke historical precedents by appointing a South-South indigene as the FCT Minister.

He also credited the President’s administration for the unprecedented level of infrastructural growth currently being witnessed in the region.

During the event, Chief Aforji Igwe, a member of the Rivers State Assembly, lauded Wike as a principled and just leader, confirming that the Eleme constituency remains fully behind him. Similarly, the Chairman of the Eleme Council, Chief Obarilormate Ollor, praised the Minister’s previous achievements as Governor and stated that the people are prepared to follow Wike’s lead.

Ollor mentioned that while the community is already committed to the President’s reelection as instructed, they are now waiting for the Minister’s specific guidance regarding the 2027 governorship race.
