According to a report by Daily Post, on Sunday January 11, 2026, the Igbo community in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, has rejected claims that the All Progressives Congress, APC, is gaining strong support in the South East ahead of the 2027 general election.
The group said such claims do not reflect the true feelings of the people in the region.
The community reacted to recent comments credited to Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma.
The governor had suggested that the South East was aligning with the APC and backing President Bola Tinubu for a second term.
He urged party leaders in the region to support Tinubu as a way to reposition the South East politically.
However, the Igbo community in Abuja described the claims as exaggerated and misleading.
The President of the Igbo Community Association in the FCT, Engr. Ikenna Ellis-Ezenekwe, said the endorsement did not come from the Igbo people.
He stated that many Igbos still feel sidelined in national affairs and do not believe the current administration has addressed their concerns.
According to the group, the South East continues to face political and economic exclusion.
They said the region has not benefited fairly from key appointments, major projects, or economic opportunities since Tinubu assumed office.
Because of this, they argued that there is no basis for claiming widespread support for the President in Igboland.
The community accused Uzodimma and a few APC leaders of pushing a personal agenda.
“President Tinubu has not done enough to deserve such an Uzodimma-engineered endorsement. Igbos are not part of this endorsement. This is a sham, a publicity stunt by Uzodimma to boost his own political career.
APC is not popular in Igboland. It’s only Uzodimma and a few others who are trying to force it down our throats,” he said..
