According to Daily Post report on 11 February, 2926, celebrity socialite and businessman, Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has revealed that he plans to work against Peter Obi in the 2027 presidential election, marking a dramatic shift from his stance in the 2023 polls.
Cubana Chief Priest, who was an active supporter of the Labour Party presidential candidate in the last general election, made his new political position known via his Instagram handle during a heated exchange with followers.
The online confrontation was triggered by questions surrounding his recent political realignment and visible involvement with the pro-Tinubu ‘City Boy Movement.’
Some of his followers sought clarity over what they described as a sudden change in loyalty, especially given his vocal support for Obi in 2023.
When directly asked whether he truly intended to work against the former Anambra State governor in the next election cycle, the socialite responded bluntly.
“Yes ooo hope say no be crime cuz i worked for Obi last election even as special adviser to an APC governor,” he said.
The comment immediately generated mixed reactions across social media platforms, with critics accusing him of political inconsistency and opportunism.
Several users also referenced his past encounters with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), suggesting that his perceived closeness to the current administration might be an attempt to shield himself from scrutiny.
However, Cubana Chief Priest appeared unfazed by the backlash. In subsequent responses, he downplayed concerns about his history with the anti-graft agency, boasting that being invited by the EFCC was almost a symbol of prominence.
Although he did not provide detailed reasons for his decision to oppose Obi in 2027, his recent public appearances and online posts have shown increasing alignment with supporters of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
