You Spend N22Bn To Build New House For VP And You Say Nigerians Shouldn’t Protest – Inibehe Effiong

During a conversation with Arise News, Inibehe Effiong, a human rights attorney, accused the government of being hypocritical, claiming that suppressing protests is a greater priority than combating corruption.

He lambasted President Tinubu for allocating N22 billion for a new Vice Presidential House at a time when Nigerians are struggling to pay for basic commodities like cassava and agbado (corn), which he had promised would be made available.

Effiong also emphasized how inadequate the proposed minimum pay of N70,000 is, lamenting that it is not even enough to purchase a bag of rice. He underlined that the only option left to Nigerians is to demonstrate against the shortcomings and broken promises of this administration.

Quoting him, “You’re not fighting corruption; you’re telling people not to protest; you are not changing the country; you’re telling people not to protest.”

“You’re investing billions—about N22 billion—to build a new resident for the Vice President, and you’re saying Nigerians should not protest.”
