When We Visited Onyeka Onwenu People Do Not Know The Husband Is A Yoruba Man – Obafemi Hamzat
In a recent interview with Arise TV, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, spoke out against a social media campaign that called for the Igbo people to leave Lagos. He stated that such campaigns are harmful and do not reflect the true spirit of Lagos, where different ethnic groups live together peacefully.
Hamzat said the late Onyeka Onwenu, a well-known Nigerian singer, was married to a Yoruba man, which shows the harmony that exists between Igbos and Yorubas. He assured that the Lagos State Governor has condemned the campaign and that even President Tinubu has spoken against ethnic bigotry. He added that the State Security Service (SSS) is investigating the situation and will work to find and hold accountable those responsible for the campaign.

In Hamzat’s words: “On the issue of the Igbos, you know the interesting thing: when we visited Onyeka Onwenu people don’t know the husband is a Yoruba man. People just hide under whatever, and just put something on social media. Like we said, the governor has condemned it; even in the speech of the President, he condemned ethnic bigotry.
