When We Lost Election I Was With Him. We Were In The Room When We’re Told You Lost-Patience Jonathan

Patience Jonathan, wife of former President Goodluck Jonathan, has called for peace in Rivers State, urging warring parties to put aside their differences and embrace governance.
Speaking at a colloquium organized by the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), she stressed the need for peaceful coexistence, citing the negative impact of chaos on development.
According to the report by The Cable on Friday, she said, “Let me at this point plead that the election has come and gone, and now it is time for governance.
“So, whatever happens there concerns me, knowing fully well that no development can take place in an atmosphere of chaos.”
Making reference to the ongoing crisis in Rivers State, Patience Jonathan cautioned against elected officials seeking to stay in office beyond their constitutional term, describing it as a recipe for anarchy.
She encouraged politicians to recognize the transient nature of power and relinquish it peacefully, as her husband did in 2015.
Speaking about the 2015 election, she said that when her husband lost the election, she did not try to convince him to hold onto power because she knew that lives would be lost.
She said, “When we failed the election I was with him (Jonathan). We were in the room when we were told you had lost. I did not whisper to him that he must stay because we would shed blood.”
The former first lady’s statement came following a political standoff between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, which has led to division among the state assembly and a legal battle.
The crisis has also affected local government secretariats, with elected chairpersons refusing to vacate their offices after their tenure expired……Seê Morē
