The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Commissioner of Police, Ben Igweh, has said that there is no need for the FCT residents to participate in the hunger protest because the government has been doing a good job in the FCT.

The nationwide protest scheduled to take place on August 1 has been gathering momentum among Nigerians, with many expressing concerns about what the protest could turn into.

Nigerians, under various groups, have been saying that the protest is aimed at drawing the attention of the government to the hunger and economic hardship that the masses are facing.

While reacting to the planned protest, the FCT Police Commissioner said that they have been in the FCT for some time, and that they had never seen the kind of infrastructural development going on now.

He said, “I started appealing to the youths, to the residents of FCT, that there is no need for this protest, especially in the FCT. Why especially in FCT? Because people were talking about insecurity, now they don’t talk about insecurity in the FCT again? It’s the government, this government has made the difference very clear.

“We have been in FCT, we have not seen things like this before in FCT. You can see the roads, you can see even in the rural areas.”
