We are no longer in that generation where you expect a child you rejected in childhood to look for you in adulthood – US Army psychologist, Oyinkansola Alabi says
In a thought-provoking statement, US Army Behavioral Health Specialist, Oyinkansola Alabi, popularly known as “The Emotion Doctor,” has declared that the era of expecting a child who was rejected in childhood to seek out their parents in adulthood is coming to an end. This assertion highlights a significant shift in the way we approach family relationships, trauma, and personal growth.
According to Alabi, the traditional expectation that a child who was rejected or neglected in childhood would inevitably seek out their parents in adulthood, seeking validation, love, or closure, is no longer a realistic or healthy assumption. Instead, Alabi suggests that individuals who experienced childhood trauma are increasingly recognizing the importance of prioritizing their own emotional well-being and taking charge of their own healing journeys.
