Tinubu Started By Giving Igbo Man Minister Of Works, Appointing An Igbo Man Service Chief-Dave Umahi
The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has said that the Igbo people have made a loud statement by not joining the hunger protest.
Speaking on Sunday during the inspection of the Enugu-Onitsha, Enugu-Abakaliki and Enugu-Port Harcourt road projects, Umahi said that Igbos are not going to take part in the protest, that what they want is proper integration in the affairs of Nigeria.
According to the report by The Cable, the former Ebonyi State governor said that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has shown that he has the interest of the South-East in mind, and that he has proven that by the infrastructural developments he has executed in the region.
He said that the President demonstrated his concern for the South-East region by making an Igbo man the minister of works. He added that the President also appointed an Igbo man as a service chief.
Speaking further, he said that this is something that has never happened in former administrations.
He said, “We are not going to protest. We want proper integration in the affairs of this country.
“Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Mr President, started it by giving an Igbo man the minister of works, appointing an Igbo man as a service chief, among others.
“We have been excluded from governance and development in the past. But now, you can see infrastructural developments in the South-East.”
The hunger protest which began on August 1 had seen Nigerians from different parts of the country storming the streets to express their frustrations over economic hardship and spiralling inflation.
It should be recalled that ahead of the protesters, some stakeholders from the South-East region had urged the Igbos not to join the hunger protest…..See_More
