They Are Giving An Impression That They Want To Use This Protest For Military To Come In- Ayo Fayose

Ayodele Fayose, former governor of Ekiti, has described the planned nationwide protest against economic hardship as a “coup” against the President Bola Tinubu administration.

According to the report by The Cable on Tuesday, Fayose warned that the protest has been politicized and could be hijacked by individuals with ulterior motives.

He said that while protests are a legitimate means of expression, the organizers must consider the implications of their actions.

Speaking during a recent interview with Channels Television, the former governor cautioned that the perception of the protest is that it aims to topple the government, which no administration would allow.

The former governor advised protesters to be mindful of the potential consequences of their actions, stating that Nigeria is a difficult country to govern and that Tinubu’s administration cannot be assessed in just one year.

He also expressed concern that those calling for the government’s downfall should be taken seriously.

He said, “People can go to the streets, but don’t let people who can hijack this protest turn it to a situation where people will now imagine that you want to take the government from Asiwaju.”

Speaking further, he said, “The perception now is that it is a coup. It is a coup. That is a perception everywhere. They are giving an impression that they want to use this protest for the military to come in.”

Fayose’s comments came as the federal government and some government officials have appealed to the organizers of the protest to shelve the demonstrations, citing concerns about potential violence and instability.
