The Election That Produced Ighadalo Was Conducted In Breach Of The Law –Adams Oshiomhole

According to Independent Nigeria, Senator Adams Oshiomhole has clarified that he never asked Philip Shaibu, the Deputy Governor of Edo State, to kneel in his bid to rejoin the All Progressives Congress (APC). Oshiomhole made this statement during an interview on Arise TV, emphasizing that Shaibu’s return to the APC was voluntary and not coerced by any form of humiliation.

In the interview, Oshiomhole referred to Shaibu as a “prodigal son” who sought forgiveness, which he granted in line with his Christian faith. He described the act of forgiving Shaibu as a natural duty, highlighting that Shaibu’s return was about reconciliation and moving forward politically.

Addressing allegations that he supports Asue Ighadalo, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the upcoming Edo election, Oshiomhole dismissed Ighadalo’s viability as a candidate. He criticized Ighadalo’s integrity and electability, citing a Federal High Court decision that found Ighadalo guilty of manipulating and violating the PDP constitution and the electoral law.

Oshiomhole further elaborated on the legal issues surrounding Ighadalo’s candidacy. He noted that the election which produced Ighadalo was conducted in breach of both the law and the PDP’s constitution, rendering Ighadalo an invalid candidate at the present moment. Oshiomhole asserted that Nigerians are not inclined to support a candidate with such a controversial background.

The Senator also took a critical stance on Ighadalo’s professional background, describing him as a “double-breasted consultant” and “transaction expert” who lacks genuine connection with the electorate. He questioned Ighadalo’s accomplishments during his tenure as chairman of Alaghodaro, accusing him of spending billions on consultancy without tangible results.
