Peter Obi Reacts To President’s Address, Says He Delayed His Response Because Of An Accusation
Peter Obi finally reacted to the President’s address to Nigerians on Sunday morning, making it clear that he delayed his response because he was accused of sponsoring protests.
In his statement, Obi explained his rationale: “Having led the call for the President to address the nation and respond to the demands of the people, and having listened to the belated speech, I needed to delay my response to see if my understanding of the address was aligned with others. I hesitated to respond immediately, as I felt it could have been perceived as another attempt by Peter Obi to sway public opinion, especially since I was initially accused of sponsoring the protest.”
Despite his initial reluctance, Obi expressed gratitude to the President for finally addressing the nation, albeit belatedly. He emphasized that the delay in the President’s response might have prevented the unnecessary loss of innocent lives, including those of security agents. Obi also noted his disappointment that the President’s address failed to show empathy towards those injured, arrested, and detained due to the overzealous actions of some security operatives.
The President’s address regrettably appeared disconnected from the harsh realities faced by the people and failed to address critical issues that initially triggered the protest,” Obi said. He suggested that this disconnection either reflects a lack of awareness among the President’s advisers regarding the scale of anger and hunger among Nigerians or a deeper systemic issue.
Obi stressed that Nigerians do not expect the President to solve the nation’s problems overnight but do expect a concerted effort to address the mismanagement of public resources, reduce the high cost of governance, and tackle critical issues like insecurity, corruption, electricity, and agriculture…..See_More
