An Akwa Ibom woman shares her heartbreak after her fiancé began avoiding her, allegedly due to the demands on her bride price list.
In a Facebook post shared by influencer Kelvin Onovo, the distraught lady expressed her frustration and fear of losing her partner in an anonymous letter.
The woman explained that the trouble began on November 9, when her fiancé received the traditional bride price list. She revealed that his behaviour shifted noticeably, and he has since stopped taking her calls.
In her message to Onovo, she wrote,“Keep me anonymous. This nightmare was collected on the 9th Nov. 24. It’s disheartening because since my guy saw the list he has changed and he’s not picking my calls. I don’t want to lose him. I have no parents too. I have struggled enough .”
The bride price list has sparked debates on social media as it amounts to millions of naira, with many criticizing the financial burden it places on grooms.
