Iran And Its Allies Aim To Envelop Us In A Terrorist Stranglehold, Says Israeli PM Netanyahu
At a solemn State Memorial Ceremony for Revisionist Zionist leader Ze’ev Jabotinsky, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered a stern warning about the growing threat posed by Iran and its regional allies, according to a report by The Times Of Israel.
“Iran and its lackeys seek to surround us with a stranglehold of terror,” Netanyahu declared, underscoring the existential challenges facing Israel.
Netanyahu’s remarks came amid increasing tensions and security concerns, particularly involving Hamas, the militant group governing Gaza. He emphasized the necessity of intensifying military pressure on Hamas to secure the return of hostages held in Gaza, a critical objective for the Israeli government. “Only increasing military pressure on the Hamas murderers will lead to the achievement of all the war’s goals — including the return of all our hostages home, both the living and the dead,” he stated.
The Prime Minister’s comments reflect Israel’s broader security strategy, which involves confronting threats on multiple fronts. He reiterated Israel’s determination to combat Iran’s influence and prevent it from establishing a “stranglehold of terror” around the nation. “We are determined to stand against them on every front and in every arena — far and near,” Netanyahu asserted, promising a heavy price for anyone who threatens Israel’s security.
President Isaac Herzog also addressed the ceremony, emphasizing the urgency of reaching a deal to secure the return of hostages from Gaza. He highlighted the importance of this issue to Israel’s resilience and unity. “It is our highest duty to act urgently to bring the hostages home,” Herzog said, noting the daily life-threatening danger faced by the captives and the need to provide proper burials for the deceased.
Herzog also called for national unity amidst increasing internal tensions. He stressed the importance of solidarity and cautioned against the dangers of division within the country. “Our national resilience is being tested, and we all feel that internal tensions and polarization are growing, precisely when we can afford it least,” he said. Herzog urged public leaders to de-escalate the situation and avoid actions that could damage the social fabric, noting that such divisions could be exploited by Israel’s enemies.
The President’s call for unity comes in the wake of recent unrest, including incidents where right-wing groups and Knesset members invaded military bases. These actions, reportedly in response to the arrest of soldiers accused of abusing a Palestinian detainee, have heightened concerns about internal discord. Herzog warned that such divisions are celebrated by Israel’s adversaries, providing them with a strategic advantage…..See_More
