I Bought A Basket Of Mangoes For N1k In Ogbomoso, But In Lagos Only 3 Mangoes Were N1k- Bayo Onanuga

The Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has reaffirmed the presidency’s dedication to alleviating the hardships faced by Nigerians.

According to the report by Sunday Sun, Onanuga stressed the importance of collaboration between the government, media, and citizens to drive progress.

Receiving the Association of Corporate Online Publishers (ACOE) in Abuja, Onanuga stressed that all Nigerians, including the media, must play a vital role in leading the country forward.

He noted the need for collective effort, particularly in agriculture, to combat hunger and reduce the cost of living.

Onanuga shared his experience in the media and his commitment to effective communication, assuring that the government’s efforts will yield positive results within the next twelve months.

He acknowledged the current hardships but noted that the cost of living crisis is a global phenomenon.

To address the issue, Onanuga encouraged Nigerians to engage in agriculture, even in their backyard, to increase food production and reduce reliance on traders who may be sabotaging efforts or profiteering.

He shared personal experiences of price disparities across regions, noting the need for collective action.

He said, “For example, a lady showed us a basket of tomatoes being sold for N4,000, and in Lagos, it is N10,000, and in Abuja it is N8,000.

“I bought a basket of mangoes for N1,000 in Ogbomoso, but in Lagos only three mangoes were sold for N1,000. There might be sabotage or profiteering by traders, but the solution is for all of us to engage in agriculture. Let’s start planting something in our yards…..Séé Moré
