I Advice Kanu That You Were Not Born During Biafra War, Take It Easy, He Abused Me Back —Edwin Clark

In a recent statement, Pa Edwin Clark, an elder statesman and the leader of the Southern and Middle-Belt Leaders Forum (SMBLF), has spoken on the organization’s objectives and concerns during an interview with The Sun.

Clark discussed various critical issues that have been the subject of national debate.

One of the key topics Clark addressed was the ongoing detention of Nnamdi Kanu, a well-known figure in the pro-Biafra movement.

He revealed his personal involvement in the situation and recounted how his relationship with Kanu initially began on a contentious note.

Despite their early disagreements, Clark underlined the implications of Kanu’s predicament, pointing out the perceived partiality in the terrorism legislation implemented under the Buhari administration.

He provided a detailed account of the circumstances that led to Kanu’s flight from the country and appeal to the federal government, urging them to release Kanu.

Clark also make between Kanu’s case and that of Asari Dokubo, another notable activist, during President Obasanjo’s administration, suggesting that the government’s response to such situations could set important history.

Beyond the issue of Kanu’s detention, Clark expressed concerns over the marginalization of the Igbo people, voicing for their inclusion and fair treatment within the Nigerian polity.

“For sometime now, I have been involved in this Nnamdi Kanu affair. Once I criticized him for going too far. I accused him that you were in your mother’s womb when the war was being fought. This war took place in 1967 and you were not born at that time. Take it easy. You have every right to demonstrate but don’t kill people, don’t do things that are not good for the country. He abused me back. Because I said in my statement that he should not include Delta State, Edo State and South South region. So they got angry and insulted me. But what we are now talking about is a very serious issue. When he was being tried, the way the terrorism act was being enacted by Buhari, we didn’t like it.
