Governor Fubara Went To The Creeks, Hired Gunmen And Brought Them To The State – Outgoing Chairman

According to the report from the Vanguard, In a recent development in Rivers State, Dr. Samuel Nwanosike, the outgoing council chairman of Ikwerre local government area and a close political aide to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, has leveled serious allegations against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the Chief of Staff, Government, Rt. Hon Edison Ehie. Nwanosike accused them of hiring cultists and gunmen to create chaos in the 23 local government councils.

In a widely circulated video on Tuesday, Nwanosike claimed that Governor Fubara ventured into the creeks to enlist gunmen who were then brought into the state to “move from one local government area to another, causing violence and looting council properties.” The focus of the violence was particularly on Ikwerre LGA.

According to Nwanosike, the governor and his chief of staff orchestrated the hire of cultists to disrupt the state, leading to a situation where the councils’ assets were damaged and even the police were targeted. He expressed grave concerns over the implications of such actions on democracy, emphasizing, “Is this the best way to govern a state?”

Seeking intervention, Nwanosike called upon President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure the enforcement of Nigeria’s constitution in the Rivers state crisis to prevent a breakdown of law and order. “Governor Fubara has now brought full-blown insecurity into Rivers state,” he asserted.

Responding to these serious accusations, the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Warisenibo Joseph Johnson, dismissed Nwanosike’s claims as mere attempts at being “clever by half.” Johnson refuted the allegations of violence, emphasizing the peaceful state of affairs in Rivers State. He stated, “We are not in a desperate situation to seize control of any council. The Constitution clearly outlines that no law enacted at a lower level can override the country’s constitution.”
