Dr. Adetokunbo Pearse: “Do You Think Nigerians Don’t Know They Didn’t Vote For Tinubu?
Dr. Adetokunbo Pearse, a prominent public affairs analyst and the Convener of Reset Lagos, recently shed light on President Tinubu’s strategic maneuvers during the latest elections. According to Pearse, Tinubu’s ability to secure support from 12 northern states was a result of his adept political strategizing rather than relying on tribal affiliations.
In a report published by the Sun, Pearse observed that Tinubu’s backing in the southern regions of Nigeria was considerably less robust, except in the South-West, where he achieved victories in four out of six states. This regional discrepancy underscored the deliberate and targeted tactics Tinubu employed to consolidate support.
Pearse contrasted this with Peter Obi, who garnered significant support from his tribal base, as reflected in his electoral performance. He emphasized that the tribal dynamics were a key factor in Obi’s support, in stark contrast to Tinubu’s broader, more inclusive political approach.
Moreover, Pearse questioned the legitimacy of Tinubu’s victory, highlighting that many Nigerians are acutely aware of the government’s shortcomings. He raised concerns about the election’s fairness, noting that Tinubu was declared the winner with only 31% of the votes counted. This, according to Pearse, has contributed to widespread skepticism and doubts among the Nigerian populace regarding the authenticity of the electoral process and the overall performance of the government.
In his words, “Do you think that Nigerians are not aware of the poor performance of the government?. Do you think that Nigerians don’t know that they didn’t vote for Tinubu considering that only about 31 per cent of the votes came in before he was declared winner. Don’t blame Nigerians for anything; they didn’t vote for him…..See_More
