Delta Group, NNU Rejects Inclusion In Proposed Anioma State
According to the report from the Vanguard, The pan-Ndokwa socio-cultural organization, Ndokwa Neku Union (NNU), under the leadership of General Mike Ndubisi, has unequivocally distanced the Ndokwa nation from the purported efforts of Senator Ned Nwoko to advocate for the creation of Anioma State.
In a statement released on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, jointly signed by General Ndubisi (Rtd.), President General of the apex body, and Secretary General Chukwuemeka Ojione, the umbrella body of Ndokwa/Ukwani Federal Constituency expressed a strong position following extensive consultations within the Ndokwa nation.
The proposal for the creation of Anioma State, championed by Senator Ned Nwoko, has been met with rejection by the people of Ndokwaland, according to the NNU. The organization firmly opposes the idea, asserting that it will not be a part of such an arrangement.
The NNU highlighted concerns raised by elite groups in Ndokwa land, criticizing what they perceive as a lack of respect for the collective sensibility of the Ndokwa people. They question why Senator Nwoko did not engage with the leaders and elders of Ndokwa nation before pursuing his initiative, which they argue does not reflect the desires and aspirations of the Ndokwa people.
The NNU, representing the Ndosumili and Ukwani speaking people of Delta State, emphasized its stance, stating, “Ndokwa Neku Union (NNU), the apex socio-cultural organization of the Ndosumili and Ukwuani people, jointly referred to administratively as NDOKWA and constituting the Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency of Delta North Senatorial District of Delta State.”
The organization expressed disbelief at Senator Nwoko’s claim of widespread support for the Anioma State proposal, particularly among the Ndokwa people, citing a lack of consultation as the root cause of the discontent surrounding the initiative….Sēé Moré
