Before, With N100, You Can Drink Garri, But Now We Can’t; We Want FG To Know Things Are Hard – Protester

Hundreds of protesters gathered in the streets of Abuja today, expressing their frustration over the rising cost of living and economic hardship. The protesters, mostly young Nigerians, carried placards and chanted slogans, demanding that the Federal Government takes immediate action to address the situation.

One protester, who spoke to our correspondent, lamented the fact that the prices of basic commodities like garri, a staple food, have skyrocketed beyond the reach of ordinary Nigerians. “Before, with N100, you can drink garri, but now we can’t; we want FG to know things are hard,” she said.

The protester’s sentiment was echoed by many others, who shared their personal struggles with the rising cost of living. “I used to buy a bag of garri for N500, but now it’s N1,500. How can I afford it?” asked another protester.

The protesters called on the FG to take concrete steps to address the economic hardship, including reducing the prices of essential commodities, creating jobs, and improving the standard of living.

The protest was peaceful, with the police providing security to ensure the safety of the protesters. However, the protesters vowed to continue their agitation until their demands are met.

The protest is a reflection of the growing discontent among Nigerians over the economic situation. The country has been experiencing a slowdown in economic growth, coupled with rising inflation and unemployment.

The FG has promised to address the economic challenges, but many Nigerians feel that not enough is being done. The protesters’ demands are a wake-up call for the government to take decisive action to alleviate the suffering of ordinary Nigerians.
