As Smart As You Are, I’m Surprised That You’re Calling Me Albino On National TV’ —Jake Epelle

In a recent interview on AIT, Jake Epelle, CEO of TAF Africa and founder of the Albino Foundation, addressed a crucial concern with Chidi Lloyd, Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area in Rivers State. Epelle politely corrected Lloyd for using the term “albino” to refer to him, emphasising that the preferred terminology is “person with albinism.”

Epelle expressed surprise that someone as educated and intelligent as Lloyd would use outdated language, but acknowledged their prior acquaintance with and respect for Lloyd’s intellectual abilities. He emphasised the need for a lasting solution to the issue at hand, showcasing Epelle’s commitment to advocacy and education.

Just a point of correction, but however, I mean, I have met with you; we’ve shook hands; I know you; you’re intellectually sound; let us find a lasting solution to the issue at hand….Seē Morë
